Ancient wrought-iron railings, antiquities serving your garden
7 years ago
Railings, also called guardrail, are elements most often made of cast iron or metal that form a protective barrier around a defined place.
Stairs, terraces, swimming pools, mezzanine, balcony... They serve as safety elements to prevent an accidental fall, especially for children.
Before becoming architectural elements in the Renaissance, then stylistic and functional elements since the Art Nouveau, the guardrails were above all elements of protections in the military and navy (used to protect the sailors from an unfortunate fall).
In France, the guardrails are governed by several texts of law aimed at controlling their design (minimum heights, maximum void dimensions between two elements...), their resistance and the test methods.
→ Today, Alain Bidal offers a large choice of authentic antique railings reclaimed throughout France to fit your terrace, your garden or the surroundings of your swimming pool with class and rusticity. All our guardrails are antique materials restored by hand by our craftsmen in our Provencal workshops!
