Antique French wedding fireplace in stone

This beautiful antique stone fireplace is known as a “wedding fireplace” due to the finely hand-carved heart at the center of the lintel. This delicate motif, a symbol of love, signifies that the fireplace was originally commissioned for an engagement and installed in the new home of the newlyweds.

The lintel and jambs are richly adorned with intricate carvings of flowers, foliage, panels, volutes, and moldings. The thin tablet echoes the graceful curve of the low-arched lintel. Each curved jamb features a hook, once used to hang a spindle. The sides of the unique fireplace were so damaged that we had to replace them.

This exceptional antique fireplace exudes historical authenticity and timeless charm.
