Louis XVI style fireplace with trumeau in stone
Rustic antique stone fireplace with trumeau. This Louis XVI style fireplace has a geometric design. It has a rectangular trumeau topped by a molded headpiece. The upper part of the trumeau is centered by a sculpted protruding lozenge. Some carefully sculpted flutes decorate the sides of the trumeau as well as the straight jambs of this fireplace. Those moldings are very representative of the Louis XVI style. The lintel is quite simple and features a beautiful rectangular panel.
This fireplace made of Savonnière stone (natural stone carved out of quarries which no longer exist in the French department of Meuse) is in perfect state of preservation.
