Antique cast iron cross sold with its weathered stone pedestal
This antique flat cast iron cross of 1.3 meters tall is exquisitely crafted.
Dating from the mid-19th century, this highly stylized cross demonstrates the exceptional skill of the artisan who forged it.
In addition to its geometric designs and magnificent forged scrolls, it features, at its center, Christ on the cross surmounted by the acronym INRI and highlighted by beams of light emanating from the four corners. At the base of the cross, an angel with outstretched wings holds a wreath of foliage (symbol of eternity). Also noteworthy are the forged reeds, symbolizing the fragility of life.
This beautiful openwork Catholic cross is sold with it lovely molded pedestal in weathered limestone. The stone used to carve this pedestal is a frost-resistant limestone.
This beautiful and unique piece is sold as is.
