Beautiful antique white marble statue: a mourner

This statue, a crying woman leaning on a broken column, is a beautiful old sculpture dating from the 19th century handmade by a craftsman of the time in a very pretty white marble.

This sculpture of more than a meter high represents a mourner.

She is portrayed as a sorrowful young woman standing up, an elbow resting on a fluted half-column. Her head bowed, her body wrapped in a long draped dress, she cries a missing parent. His other hand holds a flowery wreath.

This is a work of very good quality (note that a small end of the right rear base is missing) : the proportions of the body, the posture taken by the latter or the attention to detail...
