Large antique stone fireplace with thick base

This Louis XIV style stone fireplace rests on a thick overhanging base.

Dating end 17th / early 18th century, this beautiful country-style fireplace presents a pair of console jambs supporting a large monolithic bar lintel, nicely decorated with a fine molding. This fine molding continues over the entire height of the jambs. The overhanging base on which the fireplace rests is thick and chamfered around the edge.

The “white nicely patinated by time” color of the stone means that it can easily fir in with any type of indoor decoration. Its harmonious volume and its perfect state of conservation make it a beautiful antique piece.
