Wonderful Napoleon III style antique fireplace made of Golzinne black marble. (from Walloon region in Belgium).

Noir de Golzinne is a black limestone called “marble” because it has some physical properties similar to those of marble. It is one of the purest black marbles in the world! Its prestige is undeniable. This marble is now very rare because Golzinne is today the only quarry left in Belgium exploiting the original “Noir belge“ marble.

A bit of history: this marble was used to embellish Versailles!

Besides the work of the stonecutter, you can now understand why this antique fireplace is exceptional. This homogeneous and fine-grained black marble has a perfect deep black color.
