Exceptional Louis XIV fireplace in stone

Salvaged from a ruined manor in Eastern France, this superb antique fireplace hand-crafted in Sorcy stone is an authentic Louis XIV stone mantelpiece.

Its wide hearth opening suggests it originally stood in a large kitchen. The lintel is decorated with finely hand-sculpted rosettes and also features engraved letters, likely the initials of the original stonemason.

The keystone lintel rests on a pair of massive console jambs, themselves supported by thick foot blocks. It is topped by a delicately molded drip cornice, highlighting the elegance and authentic character of this unique piece.

A beautiful antique stone fireplace, remarkable for its elegance and timeless charm.
