Antique molded mantel in Jaumont stone (19th Century - Eastern France)

This 19th-century French mantelpiece was carved in Eastern France from the beautiful golden Jaumont stone (*).

This large stone mantel features a pair of fluted jambs on which rests an imposing lintel that acts as a shelf. This slightly arched lintel is finely carved with elegant moldings, while the hearth line is highlighted by an opulent "sausage-like" molding.

An antique fireplace full of charm and history, ideal for enhancing a living space.

(*) Jaumont stone is a distinctive limestone quarried near Metz, in Eastern France. Its warm ochre-yellow hue comes from iron oxide present in the stone, mined from quarries located above disused iron mines, giving it its characteristic golden glow.
