Louis XIV Style red marble mantle
This beautiful Louis XIV Style antique molded mantle was carved and finely sculpted in a beautiful red marble with white veins. It dates from the 19th century.
The Louis XIV Style is characterized, among other things, by a depressed-arch hearth-opening and a protruding molding called "Bolection" that runs along the whole hearth and thus enhances it. The lintel is decorated with spandrels and enhanced by a thin molded shelf.
The shape of this antique molded mantle is called " gueule-de-four arrondie”
