Louis XVI style grey marble mantle

This beautiful 19th century antique mantle was carved in a beautiful grey marble richly veined with white. It is inspired by the Louis XVI style which is characterized by straight and pure lines as well as geometric motifs and Antiquity inspired decorative elements.

The lintel of this marble mantle is rectangular and decorated with an engraved panel in the center and 2 squares carved by hand just above the jambs. The jambs are straight and have beautiful finger flutes. The tablet is thin and molded.
