Antique wrought iron and wood rotisserie counterweight
This antique fireplace spit dates back to the 18th century.
Very used since the 16th century, the mechanisms of rotisseries with counterweights made it possible to carry out slow cooking in front of a wood fire in the fireplace. They were perfectly adapted to the cooking of game, but also to poultry and even fish. These devices were often abandoned in favor of electrical equipment. Nevertheless, the rotisseries are making a comeback ... and are often used by enthusiasts who also see in these antique equipment, a friendly way to discover the great taste slow and homogeneous cooking.
