French Louis XIII antique fireplace with overmantel in stone

Wonderful fireplace crafted from Thénac limestone (Southwest France). This French Louis XIII (1610-1643) fireplace with overmantel was salvaged from a grand residence in the La Rochelle region.

The delicate craftsmanship of the period stonecutter is evident in the finely detailed vertical moldings on the hood and the large molded cornice. The rectangular molded frame provides the perfect space for a mirror or painting.
The rectangular monolithic lintel resting on gracefully tapering jambs, is topped by a large molded shelf.

A beautiful fireplace that will bring warmth and an authentic timeless character to any home.
