Wonderful Louis XV style antique fireplace
Wonderful Louis XV style (1710 – 1774) stone fireplace with stonework trumeau.
The originality behind this fireplace is the slight curved upper part of the fluted jambs. Hence, the flutes seem tapered. The trumeau is decorated with similarly fluted pilasters. The keystone lintel features a bolection molding running along its lower edge (characteristic feature of this period). A thick breakfront cornice ends the whole piece.
This 18th century antique fireplace was unassembled in the Southwest part of France in an executive home situated in the department of Charente. We have now restored it. This fireplace is showcased in our exhibition park situated in the city of L’île-sur-la-Sorgue.
