Handsome Louis XVI bedroom fireplace with stone trumeau

Louis XVI style antique fireplace with trumeau and geometric design.

Entirely made of Avy stone (limestone carved out of subterranean quarries situated in the French Department of Charente-Maritime), this fireplace dates back to the end of the 18th century and has a wonderful patina.

The rectangular monolithic lintel centered by a sculpted rosette, which is flanked by a sculpted lozenge, has corner blocks decorated with finger flutes above straight fluted jambs. Thin molded shelf breaking forward over the jambs. We restored the central part of the trumeau. This last element has beautiful fluted pilasters carved on both ends. A beautifully molded cornice tops the whole piece.

This bedroom fireplace was unassembled in a beautiful stone property situated in the city of Jonzac (between the cities of La Rochelle and Bordeaux).
