Superb Louis XIV style grey marble mantel

This 19th century - Louis XIV style antique mantle was made of grey marble.

The low-arched lintel features a flat frame with softened angles. The hearth is surrounded d by a wide rounded protruding molding that is a characteristic of the Louis XIV style. The sides of the shelf and the bases of the jambs feature the same carved curves in relief. The thin shelf is also very finely molded.
