Antique cast iron fireback for fireplace with Coat of Arms of France.

This antique cast iron chimney back features classic details that represent the Modern Arms of France: the fleurs-de-lis topped by a royal fleur-de-lis crown and flanked by 2 branches of laurel. The Modern Arms of France are highlighted by a beautiful frame and 4 large fleurs-de-lis in the corners.

The Modern Arms of France were carried from Charles 6 of France (r. 1380-1422), to Charles X of France (1824-30). Today they remain the Arms of the administrative region of Île of France.

This French chimney fireback is sold as such (small imperfection atthe bottom). It dates back to the 19th century.
